Dr. Mason is Managing Partner of SKM Enterprises, LLC. He has been part of thought leadership in the healthcare industry for over 25 years. As a professionally trained consultant, Scott serves as a trusted advisor where he is called upon to function in a variety of roles: facilitate strategic dialogues, lead consulting teams to bring forward a specific strategic initiative and/or coach executive teams through strategic studies. Major engagements relate to achieving strategic alignment, integration of management and planning, physician and clinical integration, and experienced based design.
During his years of change management, Dr. Mason has provided strategic advice to over 400 hospital and health system clients in 40 states, including many of the perennial top 100 hospitals. A unique trait of his practice is that most of Scott’s clients work deep in the organization. He has managed several highly public crisis turnaround situations, becoming Interim President for one large regional health system and leading a short term turnaround solution. As an acknowledged expert in integrated delivery systems, Scott has led a variety of partnering discussions resulting in mergers valued as well over $20 billion.
Dr. Mason is able to leverage his talents with dozens of seasoned consultants who honored him by electing him Chairman of the American Association of Healthcare Consultants (1997). SKM applies a virtual firm business model with access to best in breed consultants who are independent or employed at corporate partner firms that Scott has worked with for man years, including: Stroudwater Associates, Root Learning, Starizon, and ECG Management Consultants.
Dr. Mason is known for his action orientation. He brings an eclectic background to his consulting. Scott is a serial entrepreneur and has leas several start-up companies focused on both electronic medical records for peri-operative serviced (eko systems) and a personal health record company (LAXOR, LLC). Dr Mason also headed up the consulting arm of a publicly traded company APACHE Medical Systems as Executive Vice President (now part of Cerner) after he sold his consulting firm, National Health Advisors (founded 1981), in 1997. Earlier in his career, Dr. Mason was privileged to work at such organizations as Booz, Allen & Hamilton, the American Hospital Association and on of the first integrated delivery networks in the country Samaritan Health Service (now Banner Health).
Scott is a board certified hospital administrator and frequent national speaker on such topics as strategic planning, growth, clinical integration, service line management and experience based strategy. Scott has been recognized by Who’s Who in Health Care and as a fellow of several credentialing organizations, including the
American
College
of Healthcare Executives and the American Association of Healthcare Consultants (Chairman, 1997). He is a member of the Society for Health Strategy and Market Development and related groups. Dr. Mason holds advanced degrees from

University
. He also has a BS degree from
Duke
University
